Evaluation Activity 7- What have you learnt during the whole progress.
Looking back at your Preliminary Task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full product.
In my Preliminary Task I used a few camera shots but now I know how to use all the camera shots that there are. Also in my Preliminary Task we used costume but we didn't wear the same clothes all the way through the film now we know for Mise en scene to work you have to wear the same clothes all the way through the film. also in my preliminary task the camerawork was dodgy as the shots were taken weren't straight but we now have used the camera properly as the shots are straight.
What I feel I have learnt from the process can be split into 3 parts: Mise en Scene, editing and camerawork.
Mise en Scene
For Mise en Scene I have learnt what clothes are worn in films and how that fits the genre and the characters in the film. I have also learnt about how body language can be presented in a film and this relates to the genre of the film. I have also learnt how the position of characters in films can relate to the genre of the film. I have also learnt that for mise en scene to work the characters in the film have to wear the same clothes all the way through the film. I have also learnt that you have to wear costumes that fit your character in the film that you are making.
Editing
For Editing I have learnt how to delete parts of films when your editing them on Adobe Premiere Pro. I have also learnt how you add titles and credits to your film when editing it on Abode Premiere Pro as I didn't know how to these things when I was editing my preliminary task. For editing I have learnt how to move parts of a film to either edit them or shorten the length of that clip. For editing I have also learnt how to export films from Abode Premiere Pro to Windows Media Player. For editing I have also learnt how to export films from Abode Premiere Pro to Windows Movie Maker. I have also learnt how to add titles and cuts to films in Abode Premiere Pro. I have also learnt how to add special effects to your film on Abode Premiere Pro when your editing it. I have also learnt how change a film from colour to black and white when editing it on Abode Premiere Pro.
Camerawork
For Camerawork I have learnt all the shots that are used to make and record movies because when we did the premliminary task I only knew about a close up shot and long shot whereas now I know mid shot, extreme close up, high angle shot, low angle shot, shot reverse shot, point of view shot and aerial shot. the types of shots that I have learnt that are contious is called tracking and panning. We used a shot reverse shot for when it goes between Dalian and the attacker. so we see Dalian walking up the alley then we go to David standing behind him then we go back to Dalian who is standing infront of him. I have also learnt what Match on action this is where the camera shot reflects what is happening in the film. We used Match on action in our film for when we filmed The Scene where Dalian is being tortured by the Doctor as we took shots of him being hit with a gun as this was happening in the film. I have also learnt how to go to one scene to another by cutting or fading the next scene in. I have also learnt what the 180 degree rule is which is the rule that means that all the actors and actresses in films have to stand on the same side of the room there filming in so they can be seen in the camera and by the audience that is watching them. We used the 180 degree rule in the shot where the main character is looking at a gravestone in the cementary. I have also learnt how to hold the camera steady so the shots you take are straight.

Evaluation Activity 4- Audience
Constructing an Audience
An audience views is split into two parts Demographics and Psychographics
Demographics
For the Demographics of our Audience I will look at their Age, Gender, Class, Race and Geographical Location. For each one I will say the audience fits our film.
The Age of our audience will be 18-24 year olds mainly but people older than that may like our movie as well. We are aiming it at Teenagers mainly as these are the people who are most likely to watch our films. The Gender of our audience is Males and Females but it is mainly aimed at Males as they will like our film because of the idea of people being tortured and abducted in film is more aimed at Males rather than Females. The Class of our audience is working/ middle Class families that have teenagers in their families as these are the people who will watch our film. The Race of our Audience is all Races as our film shouldn't offend anyone what ever skin colour they are. The Geographical Location of our audience is people in and around Cambridgeshire.

The Interests of our audience will be going out and socialising with their friends to the cinema to watch films like ours. Teenagers will like our film as there is Teenagers in it and Teenagers like watch films about things that other teenagers have done. The Background music in our film creates tension by building up to the Evil doctor scene where he is torturing a victim. The beliefs of our audience will be that films can be true as well as made up. So therefore our film is a True story we have done it like that as this interests teenagers to watch it. The values of our audience is that they will watch films that have in camera angles positioning as well as engaging background music. Teenagers will also want our film to create suspense and tension to the audience.

Evaluation Activity 1 screen frames 1-9
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products.
Screen frame 1 The Title of the Film
Is the Title of the film done in white writing on a black background. We used the Title Taken because it relates to the film as in the film the main character is taken hostage by the evil doctor. The title relates to horror as there some horror films where people are taken hostage. The title of the film connotes horror as most horror films relate to someone being abducted or tortured like someone is in this film.
Screen frame 2 Setting/ Location
Is the graveyard location scene. Which is the main character looking at a grave stone in a graveyard and in the bottom left corner there is white writing saying "Starring Dalian White." This relates to the film as the person who is drinking and abducted is behaving like this because he is grieving after someone has died. This scene relates to horror as most horror films have graveyards in the film as they can be portrayed as spooky and dark. The location I have used the graveyard is associated with horror films as a dark and spooky scene.
Screen frame 3 Costumes and Props
Screen Frames Analysis
This is the scene of a desk with all the medical equipment on it that we used in the opening sequence and the evil doctor is leaning against the desk. This relates to the film as the evil doctor is in the opening sequence and as all the equipment on the table is used in the opening sequence. This relates to horror as some horror films use medical equipment to torture there victims. The props that we have used an representation of props that are used in horror films for example medical equipment is used in horror film Human Centipede as well as in our film.
Screen Frame 4 Camerawork and editing
This is the scene of the evil doctor putting his gloves standing to the side of the desk with all the medical equipment on it that is used in the opening sequence. The lighting is done by spotlight. This relates to horror as most horror films will use dark scenes to show how the whole film be portrayed as dark. This relates to our film as film is a dark horror with a hostage situation involved in it therefore making the film dark and spooky. The camera shot we used for this image was a Long Shot which used in horror films to represent things moving without seeing the full picture of what it happening in the film when the shot is taken.
Screen Frame 5 Title Font and Style
This is the scene of the main character standing drinking in the bottom left corner is white writing saying "Written by Philip Gatward" the writing is done the same as the rest of the writing during the opening sequence we have done it like this as it stands out and it is easy to read and understanding. The Title font and style relates to the film as it relates to how the film runs and the style of the film as writing is done in white and the whole opening sequence is done in black and white. It relates to horror as it is done as it is a dark movie which is what most horror films are. The style of the film is Horror and Black and white as this is how our film should be portrayed.
Screen Frame 6 Story and how the opening sets it up
The story is about a man who is grieving after someone has died and He turns to drink to help him grieve then he is attacked by a man with a baseball bat and as he is coming around after the attack he is tortured by a evil doctor. I chose this scene picture as it shows the main character turning to drink as way of getting over someones death. Which is reflected in the story and the film. This relates to horror as most horror films do give reasons why to what happens in the film and as the film relates to the original plot like most horror films do. This film is connected to other horror films by the way it opens with a graveyard scene.
Screen Frame 7 Genre and how the opening suggests it
The Genre of the movie is Horror this is suggested by the abduction that is used the opening sequence and by how the props that are used are horror related. The scene I have chosen is of the Evil Doctor taking the gun out of the draw in the desk. This relates to the film as the gun is used to torture the main character with during the opening sequence. This relates to horror as most horror films use guns in there movies either to kill or torture someone.
Screen Frame 8 How characters are introduced
All the characters in our opening sequence are introduced at the beginning of the opening sequence. The scene that I have used is of the attacker walking towards the victim I chose this as this the first time that we see the attacker. This relates to the film as the attacker is introduced just as he is going to hit the victim and this is how it happens in the film. This relates to horror as there is a part in the sequence where someone is attacked which happens in horror films. The representation of the attacker is someone who is evil and depressed like most attackers are in horror films.
Screen Frame 9 Special Effects
The special effects that we have used include lighting and editing. The Scene I have chosen is the Evil Doctor sitting at the desk with spotlight shining on him showing all the equipment on it. This relates to the film as the Evil Doctor is in the film and the equipment is used in the film as well. This relates to horror as many horror films use lighting and editing as special effects as we do. The Special effects that we have done incudes putting it in black and white this makes it stereotypical to other horror films like Phatom of Opera.
